What does SASKALTA offer you?
There is a great need today for quality trained employees and tradespeople. At SASKALTA we are
safety and safety training. Our training courses result in confident employees focussed on safety and
competent operation.
Our team of instructors have field experience and understand what you need. We,
just like you, desire industry to have workers that recognize the importance of safety. Our
team addresses that need.
SASKALTA has two NCSO officials whose focus is industrial safety. They have the expertise to
optimize your Health and Safety Program. This team can inspect and identify safety items that
require attention at your site, then train your employees to be alert to oversights and previously
unseen or noticed dangers.
Over the past few years we have secured the services of an experienced instructor to develop our
Overhead Traveling Crane program. Our Overhead Travelling Crane (OTC) course is structured so
that it can be delivered in segments to meet the needs of our clients. Our COMPETENT OPERATOR
course is forty hours of content and upon completion provides an operator of cranes with a capacity
of up to 50 tonnes. The COMPETENT WORKER course is 20 hours of content and trains the worker
to be competent at operating cranes up to 5 tonnes in capacity. Both these courses cover
material required by OH&S guidelines as set out in Table 16 of the provincial regulations.
Certificates are presented to the students at the completion of the training. One factor that
makes our courses unique in the industry is the large practical component. We follow a
25% theory and 75% practical split in the way the training is presented. This gives your employee
3 hours of practical experience for every hour of theory taught and allows us a way to accurately
determine competency. Shorter courses on Rigging and Crane Operation can also be arranged
to suit a client’s needs.
FORKLIFT TRAINING is also provided and our program meets the requirements outlined in
OH&S regulations under Table 14.1 for Powered Mobile equipment. We can cover all seven levels of
forklift training and ZoomBoom as well.
We have a CONFINED SPACE ENTRY/RESCUE program that is a day and a half long course. It
prepares the student or employee to work in industry as a confined space watch person. This training
is required for anyone who is working in a confined space area in a variety of industries. We have
built a mobile training trailer to simulate conditions that may happen on the job. This course can be
taught in two parts if desired. The first part being Confined Space Entry (level I)and the second being
the Rescue (level II) portion.
Our FIRE WATCH course is a 6 hour program and prepares the worker to work in industry as a fire
watch for Hot Works. This is specialized training in fire extinguisher operation and general safety
dealing with the Hot Work Permits that are required in most industrial plants. We have developed
other single day courses such as: MACHINE LATHE TRAINING; OXY/ACETYLENETORCH
and GRINDING training to mention a few. We continue to develop courses to meet demands
of Industry and are presently engaged in development of MANLIFT and
SAFETY MANAGEMENT programs.
